PENSION REFORMS TO PROMOTE EQUITY AND FAIRNESS IN PENSION BENEFITS
Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF) Director General, Mr. Francis Pindani Nyirenda, has reaffirmed that the new Public Service Pensions Act No. 73 of 2026 will promote equity, fairness and improved retirement security for public service employees.
Speaking during a sensitisation meeting in Chipata, Eastern Province, Mr. Nyirenda said the new legislation replaces the previous Act to address existing gaps and strengthen pension administration, governance and the protection of members' accrued pension rights.
And Eastern Province Assistant Secretary Mr. Clement Chilembo, who spoke on behalf of the Provincial Permanent Secretary, urged public service employees to embrace the reforms, describing them as a significant milestone in enhancing the welfare of Zambian workers.
The nationwide sensitisation programme is being implemented in partnership with ZCTU, NAPSA and LASF to ensure public service employees fully understand the new pension reforms.
