PSPF COMMEMORATES 2025 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
On March 8, 2025, the Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF) joined the international community in commemorating International Women’s Day under the theme “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”
While the main national event was held in Kasama, Northern Province, and officiated by Republican President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, PSPF participated in the Lusaka celebrations at the Showgrounds, officiated by Republican Vice President Mrs. W.K. Mutale Nalumango.
The event began with a march past from the University of Zambia to the Lusaka Showgrounds Main Arena, where PSPF actively participated, reaffirming its commitment to women's empowerment and gender equality in all spheres of life.
At the PSPF exhibition stand, visitors were introduced to the Fund’s innovative products and services, highlighting how recent digitization and automation initiatives have transformed service delivery, making pension services more accessible. During a tour of the stand, the Vice President expressed her appreciation for the PSPF Mobile App and USSD platform, which have significantly improved service accessibility for members.
According to the United Nations, this year’s theme calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all and a feminist future where no one is left behind. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation, the youth, particularly young women and adolescent girls as catalysts for lasting change.
Besides, the year 2025 is a pivotal moment as it marks the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. This document is the most progressive and widely endorsed blueprint for women’s and girls’ rights worldwide that transformed the women’s rights agenda in terms of legal protection, access to services, youth engagement, and change in social norms, stereotypes and ideas stuck in the past.
